I used to perform routine medical check up of the troops deployed in the area, indoor/out door treatment of sick service personnel and treatment of local civilians. The duties included sanitary rounds of army units, medical cover to troops moving in different border areas. The period included about six months stay in Siachin and Baltoro Glaciar. It was the highest battlefield in the world where we were exposed to harsh living conditions like blizzards and avalanches. There was frequent enemy gun fire. I qualified my FCPS part I during these adverse conditions.
